The Blue Mile is the first-of-its-kind virtual event, ‘Run’ for Water, organized by WaterAid India, a part of the global WaterAid network that seeks to improve and change lives for good. With an aim to sensitize people about the struggles of millions of Indians who do not have access to clean water, the first edition of Blue mile was launched on 3 March, 2019 in Hyderabad.
Despite being the first run event, Blue Mile was able to garner 4850 runners through organizing corporate engagements, mall activations, workshops in educational institutions, and other such marketing activities. The credit to our success equally goes to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, as it would not have been possible without their immense support and contribution.
In 2019-20, when the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, WaterAid’s work took on a renewed urgency. To make handwashing with soap and clean Water – the cheapest yet the most effective measures available to those in need, we launched the second edition “Blue Mile 2.0 “.
We aim to improve access to CLEAN WATER, DECENT TOILETS, and GOOD HYGIENE for everyone, everywhere.
WaterAid India aims for long-lasting solutions to make clean water accessible for everyone, everywhere.
Without decent toilets, diseases spread fast and dignity is compromised. We spread awareness to generate demand for toilets and train communities for a long-lasting impact.
Good hygiene practice is one of the most effective ways to safeguard health. We promote it amongst children and adults, starting with the simple act of handwashing.
WE WILL NOT STOP until clean Water, decent toilets and good hygiene are a normal part of everyone’s life.
